Mr. Gregory Nelson

It is with great pleasure I write this letter introducing myself as the interim principal of Bexar County Academy Charter School and to be a part of the magnificent school community. It is my privilege to serve the Bexar County Academy community. I have 26 years of experience in education in which I have worked in various areas within the educational division. I have served as an elementary and secondary educator, guidance counselor, district safety coordinator and school administrator within the public and charter school field. Therefore, while serving in each of these positions I had the privilege to work with hundreds of diverse learners and brilliant educators.

Also, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from the University of Texas at San Antonio, Masters of Educational Technology from American International University, an Educational  Specialist Degree from Jones International University and I am currently finishing a Doctorate in K-12 Educational Leadership from Trident University. I am an advocate of children rights to an education no matter their ethical and economical background. It is my job to ensure that every child succeed and receive a highly qualified education. I will support out parents to become an effective part of our learning community. Therefore, I will work diligently with teachers, students and parents to ensure that communication and collaboration are being met. I will spend a portion of time with your scholars, getting to know their personalities, learning styles and interests. I will rejoice in their successes no matter how great or how small. I will encourage them every day and let them know they are valued and have a special place in our school community.

Furthermore, I am thrilled to start working with your scholars and the work we will do together. We are more than educators to our scholars; we listen and comfort them in a time of need and guide them to spread their wings and sore into their destiny. I look forward to sharing with you our goals and vision for Bexar County Academy s we moved forward into a new era of learning. It is my goal to work alongside of our staff to help; - to guide you, if you need any help navigating any aspect of the school day. In addition, this school year, I plan to spend the majority of my time ensuring  that students, parents and teachers have a smooth transition with virtual learning, face- to - face instruction  and hybrid instruction. I will continue  to work our administrative team to ensure the needs of our school community are met. I believe that every scholar deserves an equal and fair learning experience that only transpires when our school community come together for the best interests of our children.

Finally, I will be calling upon all of our faculty, staff, and parents to work as a team to support and serve in the best interest of our scholars. My beliefs as an educator is that every child deserves an opportunity to be creative, to grow and flourish in every aspect of their learning. However, my greatest achievements are being a father in which I want to be able to leave a legacy not only to my younger children Emily (15), Paul (13), Hannah (11), but those children who work with daily. I know that it takes a village to raise children and we together are that village. My faith, my belief, and my family are my foundation and key that keeps me grounded. It is my firm belief that God has plans for all of us and that all we have to do is to walk into our destiny. Psalm 46:1-3 says God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble, therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way and mountains fall into heart of the sea, though waters roar and foam and the mountain quake with surging we will still stand. Therefore, with great humility it is my pleasure to have  the opportunity to serve this great learning community and bring all my experiences to continue  to guide our school into next age of learning. I look forward to getting to know each of you. I look forward to meeting you all very soon.

With Deepest Regards,

Mr. Gregory Nelson
