Hello,

My name is Michelle Pamplin and after working as a school nurse for 5yrs I decided to leave the clinic for the classroom!! I graduated from Texas A&M San Antonio with a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies. This is my second year here with BCA and some of you may know me from last year as one of the 5th grade teachers. I'm very excited to teach 2nd grade this year!! I have 4 teenage boys of my own and have been married for 18yrs. Although I am orginally from Washington DC, I have lived in San Antonio for 16 yrs and made it my forever home. I enjoy most outdoor activities, movies, music, animals, and crafting. I also like to travel when possible even if it's only a family road trip.

*** Daily Attendance for Online Learners ***

Good afternoon parents,

I will try to continue sending daily attendance reminders. Unfortunately, I will not always be able to, as it is time consuming for me to do while conducting both in person and online classes. I need parents to be responsible for making contact if your child is not coming to the campus. I understand you are choosing to keep your children at home for safety purposes and since you are choosing virtual/online learning your child must be logged on for the full school day as if they were here on campus. Please be advised that I will not give your child credit for attendance if they are not attending our online classes and not completing assignments - this is a requirement to monitor learning.

*** Letter to Parents ***

Dear Parents,

I am writing to you today because we have several things to discuss as we approach our return to face-to-face/on campus learning. Bexar County Academy is transitioning virtual learning to synchronous learning. Therefore, I will be live streaming instruction during the day for those in class, as well as those at home that can follow along in real time. Unfortunately, I will no longer have recorded instructional videos available.

At this time, I still have not spoken with a few parents, it is imperative that you schedule a conference time with me so that we can discuss the best way to meet your child’s needs. Please make sure your contact information is up to date (a few phone numbers are non-working numbers). I will accommodate your schedule in order to make sure I meet with everyone separately and we outline our expectations. Please respond with the best time to reach you and we will schedule your conference time.

We are approaching TPRI which is the reading assessment used to help teachers identify what the student’s reading level is. This allows teachers to properly plan lessons that connect to each student’s individual ability. I will need to schedule a time to zoom privately with each student if they are not participating in the on-campus learning.

Finally, I want to encourage parents to consider allowing your student to return to campus. BCA is taking all precautions recommended by the state for safety. There is really no substitute for in-class learning although I will try my very best to oblige you if virtual learning is the only option. Thank you for your time and please stay safe.

Please try to log in during that time if possible. Also we will be using today for assessment and trying to catch up on any missing work.
